By making the proper maintenance can prevent your jewelry from depreciating in value.

Here are some tips on how you can take proper care of your jewelry.

1. When to Remove Your Jewelry

Jewelry is one of the delicate parts we purchase, no matter what materials are involved. So, I’m here to remind you to slow down a bit and take some extra care with your special jewels. They will be much happier in the long run. Take off your jewelry before any of the following:
1.Watch out for the beauty products
   2. Playing any kind of sport activities, Gym, Spa.
   3. Cleaning your home.
   4. Swimming in chlorine treated water.
   5. Take off your jewelry when you sleep.

2. Put Your Jewelry on Last

If you’re getting dressed in the morning or getting ready for a night, it’s tempting to put your jewelry on first. However, it’s better to wear it when you’re ready to step out of the door. Why? Because of the chemicals from perfumes, beauty and hair products can damage your jewelry.

3. Avoid Putting on Lotion When Wearing Jewelry

Lotion seems like a harmless product since its help to restore moisture in your skin, but lotion can damage the finish on custom jewelry pieces.

4. Store Each Jewelry Piece Individually

The reason for storing your pieces individually makes it easier to avoid situations like pieces can knock each down and cause a diamond to fall out and chains can become tangled.

5. Jewelry case important part too

Many people understand to carry the jewelry case with them while travelling, which is definitely the best choice to protect your treasure or collections.

6. There are some simple ways you can clean your jewelry by yourself at home:

1. With the help of Baking soda, Hot water, and aluminum foil:

Soaking your jewelry in a mixture of baking soda and hot water in an aluminum foil-lined bowl is a great way to get rid of rust. The rust from the silver will transfer to the water and later, the water will get all the rust particles. When this method used, there will no use of scrubbing the jewelry. When you remove items from the water, just use a soft cloth to wipe away any excess rust. That’s it.

2. Soap and Water

The mix of soap and water is an easy and effective way to clean gold and platinum jewelry. Use a soft toothbrush or cloth to scrub any tough buildup on the gold and platinum. Later, just remove them from the liquid and lay them to dry before storing them in a cotton bag.

3. Dish soap, Baking soda, Salt and Water

This method is way similar to the baking soda and water method but by adding some salt and dish soap in the water as a cleaning power. The suggestion here is to use the soft cloth to be on the safe side. And, this method can only be used on harder stones and metals, like diamonds but one should avoid it using for softer metals like silver and gold, as well as for pearls.

Many jewelries store these days offers free check-up or professional cleaning. Jewelry should be checked every six-eight months and cleaned every one month. Look for a jeweler with professional training and a good reputation in the market even asking friends or relatives for recommendations can be a good place to start with.
